An addendum was released on February 8 to The Science Academy statement of February 3 on the appointment of a new president to Boğaziçi University addressing thedevelopments since then, namely allegations concerning Science Academy member Prof. Dr Ayşe Buğra and the abrupt establishment of two new faculties at Boğaziçi University.
The Science Academy – Bilim Akademisi – Turkey endorses the statement made by Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization, in his opening remarks at the 148th Session of the WHO Executive Board.
The statement from Dr. Tedros makes clear the moral as well as scientific, indeed common sense, arguments for a proper international vaccination effort. To quote:
“It’s right that all governments want to prioritize vaccinating their own health workers and older people first. But it’s not right that younger, healthier adults in rich countries are vaccinated before health workers and older people in poorer …

The Science Academy, Turkey – Bilim Akademisi has just been admitted as a Member Organization of the International Science Council (ISC), which is the largest global organization of science and social science institutions, comprising a membership of 40 international Unions and Associations and more than 140 national and regional organizations including Academies and Research Councils.
The Science Academy intends to be an active Member Organization of the ISC based on the expert contributions of our members.
