Our member Daron Acemoğlu won the 2024 Nobel Prize in Economics.
Our member Daron Acemoğlu, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), along with Simon Johnson and James A. Robinson, has been awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences.
The Nobel Prize, given for their work on “the formation of institutions and their impact on prosperity,” is considered one of the most prestigious scientific awards in the field of economics.

The Results of BAGEP 2024 have been announced!
Initiated by the Science Academy, Türkiye and supported by individual and institutional investors, the results of the Science Academy Young Scientists Award Program (BAGEP) 2024 have been announced.
Forty-two new awards are added to the 435 awards given since 2013 with the aim of identifying, rewarding and supporting young academicians in conducting new studies.

European Research Council Funding for Tolga Mete Duman and Ömer İlday
The Science Academy, Bilim Akademisi members; Prof. Tolga Mete Duman of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Assoc. Prof. Ömer İlday of the Departments of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Physics, the Neuroscience Program and UNAM have had their projects selected for funding under the EU’s Horizon Europe research and innovation funding program, after submitting proposals in response to the European Research Council (ERC) 2021 advanced grant call. The total budget for the two projects will be nearly 5 million euros.
